The word is out: volunteering is good for you! The benefits are numerous—improved mental and physical health, less stress, a sense of purpose, connection with others, and greater good for the community. But here at Hope Academy, volunteering is also a lot of fun as one of our strategic game mentors.
Are you a Dominos fan? How about Rummikub or Cribbage? Our volunteers gather weekly to lead a small group of Lower School students (grades 3-5) in game play. Hope Academy specialists strategically chose games that help students improve in an array of ways: pattern learning, memory recall, processing speeds, and critical thinking.
At the heart of this opportunity, however, is the chance to connect with students, build their confidence, shower them with encouragement, and be a positive influence in their life!
The Details:
Strategic Game Mentors volunteer on Wednesdays from 8:30-10:00 a.m. This program runs from October through May, but you do not need to be available all school year. Ideally, we ask you to commit to a 2- or 3-month period (October-December; January-March; April-May).
