Job Details

The Assistant Principal will support the Middle School Principal in managing the daily operations of the school. This role involves overseeing student accountability systems, maintaining the Hope Habits system, and managing student operations such as lunch and recess. The Assistant Principal will serve as the primary point of contact for parents regarding behavior issues, attend parent meetings, and coordinate summer school programs, including the 6th grade summer bridge and the 7th grade mission trip.

This is a .7 FTE benefits eligilble role that can be supplemented with classes or student support hours to create a 1.0 FTE position.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Christo-Centric Role Model: Demonstrate compellingly through word and action what it means to follow Jesus in a multi-cultural, urban context. 
  • Student Accountability: Manage student accountability systems, including detention and other accountability measures. Coordinate with student support staff to respond to academic, attendance, and behavioral challenges with a holistic and redemptive approach. 
  • Hope Habits System: Maintain and oversee the implementation of the positive behavior Habits system to promote strong habits, character, and leadership among students. Lead teachers, parents, and support staff in leveraging and responding to Habits as a tool to continue developing MS Scholars. 
  • Student Operations: Supervise student operations during lunch and recess to ensure a safe and joyful environment. Lead and manage staff responsible for executing lunch operations with excellence. 
  • Parent Communication: In coordination with MS Dean, act as the primary point of contact for parents regarding major student behavior issues and attend parent meetings as needed. 
  • Summer Programs: Coordinate and lead summer school programs, including the 6th grade summer bridge and the 7th grade mission trip. 
  • School Operational Leadership: In collaboration with the Middle School Principal, operate as primary leader in day-to-day functioning of the school.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of excellent teaching experience in an urban context. 
  • Strong understanding of student behavior management and activating student accountability systems on a school wide level. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with staff, students, and families. 
  • Strong strategic, organizational, and multitasking abilities. 
  • Demonstrated cultural agility in a multi-cultural urban context. 
  • A vibrant and compelling faith in action following Jesus. 
  • Salary range for this .7 FTE position is based on education and years of experience and ranges from $34,000-$50,000. If classes and student support hours are added on then the 1.0 FTE salary range is $47,000-$70,000.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a leadership role within a school setting. 
  • Advanced degree in Education or a related field. 
  • Fluency in Spanish a plus. 
  • Familiarity with youth program coordination a plus.
