Job Details
The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and managing school transportation logistics, ensuring smooth, safe, and timely transportation services for athletics, field trips, daily bus routes, and special events. This role involves close collaboration with families, bus companies, and school staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate transportation for school, athletics events, field trips, and play practices.
- Liaison between MPS transportation and Monarch Busing for school year and summer session.
- Manage daily afternoon bus route changes, including last-minute adjustments.
- Communicate all route changes to families, drivers, and school staff in a timely manner.
- Follow up on bus stop issues, ensuring safe and efficient service
Compliance & Documentation:
- Track and schedule required DOT physicals for school bus drivers.
- Collect and manage driver waiver forms and signatures, ensuring compliance with school policies.
- Coordinate the use of CDL and rented buses as needed.
Family & Scholar Support:
- Assist with transportation reimbursements for scholars living outside Minneapolis, ensuring submissions are made by October 1 and May 30 annually.
- Serve as a key point of contact for families regarding transportation needs and concerns.
Work Hours and Salary:
- This is a part-time position from 8:30am to 1:30pm on school days.
Education and Skills Required:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Fluent in both Spanish and English.
- Strong orientation to detail and maintain confidential information.
- Ability to remain calm under stress.
- Strong communication and organizational skills and the ability to work independently and as a team member.
