Position: The purpose of this position is to serve as a noticeable community safety presence in matters relating to Hope Academy and all tenants. The person in this position will act as a liaison between the school, tenants, and the community, including Peavey Park.
Job Details
The following reflects essential functions for this position but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned.
- Community engagement: Collaborate with local law enforcement and community safety groups to address crime and safety concerns effectively.
- Exterior Door Checks: Conduct regular checks (e.g., 4 times per day) to ensure all 38 doors are securely locked.
- Perimeter Patrols: Walk the perimeter of the buildings at least 2 times per day to monitor for any suspicious activity and ensure the integrity of the campus boundaries.
- Parking ramp: Walk the parking ramp especially the stairwells and elevators at least 4 times per day.
- Surveillance of Drop-off/Pick-up Areas: Provide a visible safety presence during these times to enhance safety for students and assist in the orderly flow of traffic.
- Sharps Disposal: Carry a sharps container and protective gloves to safely dispose of needles or other hazardous materials found on the grounds.
- General Monitoring: Regularly inspect bushes and less visible areas of the campus grounds for any signs of trespassing or hidden contraband.
- Monitor cameras: Monitor security cameras at regular intervals.
- Traffic Management: Assist in managing pedestrian safety from Ramp to Campus for morning arrival and morning events as needed.
- Start of Day Security: Ensure that all facilities are secured at the start of the school day. “Dog doors” at bus entrance at 9:30 am for students and re-lock doors at 10:10 am
- Hope Academy, all tenants, and parking ramp.
- Be on sight from 7am to 3pm on weekdays.
- $48k - $57k Depending on qualifications. Includes full benefits.
Education and Skills Required:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- 3-5 years security experience preferred.
- Experience working in a school environment preferred.
- Law enforcement, security, or military background a plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Has the ability to stay calm and de-escalate stressful situations.
